MINOT, ND – Due to the stormy weather and bad roads there was just one basketball game last night and it involved a couple Minot schools as the Our Redeemer’s girls hosted Nedrose. The Cardinals were undefeated coming into the night. The Knights led by three after one quarter at 12-9, but increased the margin to 23 at halftime 34-11. It was 46-19 at the end of the third quarter and finished with a 52-26 win for Our Redeemer’s. The Knights improve their record to 3-1, while Nedrose drops to 4-1.

FARGO, N.D. (NDSU) – No. 3 seed North Dakota State defeated sixth-seeded Samford 27-9 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Football Championship on Friday at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome. NDSU improved to 11-2 overall and advanced to next week’s semifinals where the Bison will host No. 7 seed Incarnate Word. Samford, champion of the Southern Conference, finished its season 11-2 overall. The game was scoreless until late in the second quarter when NDSU tight end Joe Stoffel caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Cam Miller. The Bison got a 44-yard field goal from Griffin Crosa on the final play of the half to take a 10-0 lead at intermission. NDSU opened the second half with a seven-play, 82-yard drive capped by TK Marshall’s 7-yard touchdown run to take a 17-0 lead, and the Bison stretched it to 24-0 late in the third with Miller’s 1-yard TD run. Samford, which ranked sixth in the FCS averaging 306.5 passing yards per game, got a 28-yard Zach Williams field goal in the fourth quarter and a 40-yard touchdown pass from Michael Hiers to Chandler Smith with 3:53 left for its only points of the game.
Kobe Johnson led seven Bison ball carriers with 15 attempts for 48 yards and Marshall finished with 11 carries for 47 yards. RaJa Nelson caught four passes for 39 yards and Miller was 15 of 18 passing for 194 yards. Hiers went 22-for-30 passing for 227 yards all in the second half for the Bulldogs. Smith had 120 yards on six catches, Kendall Watson made eight catches for 73 yards, and DJ Rias had nine receptions for 48 yards. NDSU cornerback Courtney Eubanks made a career- and game-high 10 tackles to lead the Bison defense, which held Samford to 8 of 17 on third down. Javier Derritt had two of NDSU’s five sacks and safety Dawson Weber made his third interception of the season.

Facing a stout defensive front, the Vikings quietly had one of their most productive games running the ball this season with 128 yards on 29 attempts. Dalvin Cook rushed 20 times for 86 yards, and he and Alexander Mattison each had second-quarter touchdowns. “The belief we have in those two, they’re warriors,” right tackle Brian O’Neill said. “I want to give them the rock.” According to Sportradar data, the Vikings gained a season-high 84.4% of their rushing yards before initial contact by the defense on Sunday.
No quarterback in the NFL has been pressured (123) or hit (93) more times this season than Kirk Cousins, per Sportradar. After taking several jarring blows from the Jets, the ultra-durable Cousins said he was fine physically but acknowledged the rush affected his accuracy. He went 21 for 35.
The safety tandem of Bynum and Harrison Smith combined for 15 tackles and five pass breakups in addition to the picks. Smith is third in the league with five interceptions.
WR K.J. Osborn has totaled only 14 receptions for 103 yards over the past seven games. Cousins has completed only 58% of his passes targeting Osborn, compared to 69% for Justin Jefferson and 68% for Adam Thielen. Osborn, who had seven touchdown catches last season, has just two this year.
Cameron Dantzler Sr. is on track to come off injured reserve and has a “great chance” per O’Connell to return Sunday to the depth-tested cornerback position opposite Patrick Peterson. Akayleb Evans started against the Jets after a two-game absence because of a concussion, only to re-enter the protocol in the third quarter, and he’s already been ruled out against the Lions. The rookie has had three concussions since joining the team. “Before Akayleb plays again we want to make sure it’s 100% the right timing for him because we care more about the player health and safety,” O’Connell said. Left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who has also been in the concussion protocol twice in the past four weeks, has been held out of the past two games. He practiced Friday and has been progressing.
19. Vikings opponents have made 19 consecutive field goals since a miss by Miami’s Jason Sanders on Oct. 16. Greg Zuerlein went 5 for 5 for the Jets, including a 60-yarder. Of the seven field goals made from 60-plus yards in the NFL in the past two seasons, four have come against the Vikings.
The Vikings would clinch the NFC North title by winning Sunday at Detroit (5-7). Then they have two more home games, against Indianapolis (4-7-1) and the New York Giants (7-4-1).

Mike White stepped in for the Jets at quarterback for the benched Zach Wilson last week and performed with the poise and efficiency of a veteran in just his fourth career start — and first of the season. White went 22 of 28 for 315 yards and three touchdowns in the 31-10 victory over Chicago. “He comes in and prepares, goes about his business the right way and goes about his preparation the right way,” rookie receiver Garrett Wilson said. “You do things like that consistently, you’re going to get it back.” White already has just one fewer TD pass than Wilson and is two behind Joe Flacco for the team lead.
Kene Nwangwu returned a kickoff 97 yards for the tying touchdown for the Vikings in the third quarter against the Patriots, his first score of the season after taking two of them all the way as a rookie last year. Special teams coordinator Matt Daniels blamed himself for holding Nwangwu back by overthinking the return schemes. He and assistant Ben Kotwica drew up a new plan on paper at halftime of that game that the Vikings had never practiced before. “What a breath of fresh air it was to see him take one to the house,” Daniels said. “I know we’ve all been waiting on it.”
The Vikings ought to get a boost for their defensive line with the return of Dalvin Tomlinson, who has missed the last four games with a calf injury. The only previous game he missed in six years in the NFL came last year when he was sidelined by COVID-19. Tomlinson, whose interior presence and push has contributed to edge rushers Za’Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter combining for 16 1/2 sacks, warmed up before the New England game but was held out as a precaution. “It was more just about trusting things, making sure the muscles were ready for the pounding you’re going to take during the game,” Tomlinson said.
Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore, who requested a trade earlier this season because of a lack of opportunities, has been more involved in the passing attack lately. With White at quarterback, Moore caught his first touchdown pass of the season against the Bears after having five as a rookie last year. Moore said this week he actually took a ball the day before the game and had a monologue with it — even giving it a kiss for good measure. “I was like, ‘You already know how I feel about you,’” Moore said.
