FARGO, N.D. (NDSU) – Free safety Dawson Weber was one of five North Dakota State football players named to the 2022 Phil Steele FCS All-America Team, which is compiled by Phil Steele and the DraftScout.com staff. Weber, a senior from Elk Grove, Calif., was named to the fourth team and is one of 16 defensive backs in the FCS listed by Phil Steele. NDSU fullback Hunter Luepke, left tackle Cody Mauch and defensive end Spencer Waege were named to the first team, and left guard Nash Jensen was named to the second team. Bison defensive tackle Jaxon Duttenhefer and linebacker Logan Kopp were named to the Phil Steele FCS Freshman All-America Team. Duttenhefer was a second-team pick and Kopp made the third team. Luepke, Mauch and Waege were also named to the Athlon Sports FCS All-America Team, which is compiled by Stats Perform FCS senior editor Craig Haley. NDSU was the only school with three selections on Athlon’s 30-man team.
 
No. 3 seed North Dakota State (12-2) is scheduled to face No. 1 seed South Dakota State (13-1) in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The game will be televised live on ABC.

WOLVES-PELICANS
 
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Zion Williamson scored a career-high 43 points, capping it with New Orleans’ final 14 points in the last 2:44 of the game, and the Pelicans narrowly outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-118 for their fourth straight victory. Anthony Edwards scored 27 for Minnesota. But he missed a baseline fade for the win as time expired on a game in which the Wolves led most of the way before losing their fourth straight. Trey Murphy III scored 21, going 5 of 6 from 3, and CJ McCollum scored 20 for the Pelicans. Jonas Valanciunas had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
