MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Minot man is being held on suspicion of murder in the fatal shooting of a woman. The Minot Police Department says it received a call just before 5 PM Sunday of a woman who had been shot in northwest Minot and was at the hospital. Officers arrived to find that she had died. A police department statement says the investigation led them to the suspect, 41-year old Eric Venn of Minot. Police say they spotted Venn in a vehicle and he attempted to flee, but was arrested in northeast Minot after a chase. Venn was charged with murder (AA felony), tampering with physical evidence (C felony), and fleeing in a motor vehicle (C felony). Police gave no details on a motive or on any relationship between the victim and Venn.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Police say an 18-year-old motorcyclist has died in a crash in Bismarck. Police say an SUV was turning left from Washington Street onto Slate Drive when the motorcycle crashed into the passenger side door around 11 AM Sunday. The driver of the motorcycle died. Police did not immediately release the person’s identity. The two people in the SUV did not request medical attention. Sgt. Dustin Miller says speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man accused of fatally shooting his mother and a North Dakota police officer after authorities tried to serve him with eviction papers has told a jury he feared for his life and didn’t mean to kill anyone. Forty-two-year-old Salamah Pendleton is facing two counts of murder for the deaths of Lola Moore and Grand Forks police Officer Cody Holte in a May 2020 shootout at an apartment Pendleton shared with Moore. Pendleton said he wanted to surrender to authorities but was traumatized when he saw his mother’s body in the hallway. He said he was aiming for the legs of the officers but his vision was impaired because he wasn’t wearing his glasses. Closing arguments are scheduled Tuesday.

DICKINSON, ND – The Stark County Sheriff’s office is attempting to locate a missing woman. 30-year old Lindy Ruth Blades of Gates, Oregon is described as 5 foot 8 inches in height and has brown hair and brown eyes. Blades’ 2006 Toyota car was located abandoned near Lefor, ND on a section line on Sunday. Officers say Blades has a history of some mental health issues and of going missing for periods of time. Law enforcement contacted her family and conducted a foot search and aerial search with a drone in the area of where the vehicle was located, but she was not found. MINOT, ND – The City of Minot is providing residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated trash free of charge this week. Through Saturday Minot residents who use City of Minot sanitation services can bring unwanted items and trash to the City of Minot landfill free of charge. Residents must provide a current water bill as proof that they are a City sanitation customer. The landfill is open from 7 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Saturday during the summer months. Residents can also drop off household hazardous waste at the landfill during the summer.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a man suspected of killing a woman found in a burning car last month in Minot. Investigators say the man has ties to the victim, 33-year-old Domonique Kelly of Minot. Shortly after Kelly’s body was found June 3, a residence associated with suspect was intentionally burned. According to police, a stolen vehicle believed to have been taken by the man was found in the Minneapolis area and had also been burned. Police have gotten a warrant on charges of murder and conspiracy of murder. Authorities say 32-year old Kamauri Kennedy was last known to be in the Detroit, Michigan area. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Wilton man is charged with corruption of a minor after police say his DNA sample matched those taken from the sexual assault examination of a teenage girl. Bismarck police in December started investigating an alleged inappropriate sexual relationship between a teenage girl and a man later identified as 31-year-old Perry Toineeta. He also is charged with terrorizing stemming from a July 3 incident in which police say he pointed a BB handgun at two people. Court records show he is on probation after pleading guilty in April to corruption of a minor and luring minors by computer.

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – The driver of a van involved in a crash that killed a Mandan woman and seriously injured two others is facing criminal charges. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the 23-year-old driver failed to yield the right of way before crossing Memorial Highway at an intersection Thursday. A pickup truck struck the passenger side of the van killing 42-year-old Heather Robbins, who was pronounced dead at a Bismarck hospital. The patrol says the van driver fled from the scene, but was later apprehended. Two others in the van were taken to the hospital for treatment.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Police in Devil’s Lake have captured two men suspected of burglarizing a jewelry store in Minot last month. Police in Minot said someone broke into Knowles Jewelry on June 30 and made off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry. Police said in a news release Friday that police in Devil’s Lake captured two men suspected in the burglary following a pursuit. The release said the men possessed items taken in the jewelry store burglary.รก
