BISMARCK, ND – Drew Wrigley has formally announced his candidacy for Attorney General of North Dakota. The formal announcement comes one week after Wrigley publicly stated his intention to enter the race. Wrigley will seek the Republican nomination at the Republican state convention, April 1 and 2nd, in Bismarck. Wrigley aims to fill the seat held by Wayne Stenehjem, who will not seek reelection next year.

In his announcement video, Wrigley highlights his leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, including 17 years in law enforcement, years of private sector business experience, and his service as Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota. The 56-year-old Wrigley was U.S. attorney from 2001 to 2009, and again from 2019 to 2021. He was lieutenant governor from 2010 to 2016 under former GOP Gov. Jack Dalrymple. Wrigley, his wife Kathleen, and their three children live in Bismarck.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A federal judge has sentenced a Mandan woman convicted of child neglect to supervised release after she pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge. Prosecutors say 28-year-old Hope Althoff neglected her children while using drugs and took part in a drug trafficking scheme. Federal charges of money laundering conspiracy and illegal use of communication facilities were dismissed. U.S. District Judge Daniel Traynor on Tuesday sentenced Althoff to the time she had already served, more than 300 days, and ordered her to spend three years on supervised release. In August 2019, Althoff pleaded guilty to state charges of felony child neglect and misdemeanor animal neglect. She was sentenced to two years of probation.
BISMARCK, ND – North Dakota’s State of the State address is set for January 19th. Governor Doug Burgum says that he will give the address from the Festival Concert Hall at the Reineke Fine Arts Center at North Dakota State University in Fargo. Burgum intends to review progress on issues such as infrastructure, workforce, and economic development, while also outline challenges such as the extreme drought and the ongoing pandemic. The address will be live-streamed through the Governor’s Office website.
DICKINSON, ND – Two men are in custody and two are wanted in connection with a Dickinson shooting that happened early New Year’s Day in a parking lot. An area business was damaged by a stray bullet. Investigators say several individuals were involved in a shootout and left the scene before officers arrived. No injuries were reported to authorities.
