K-HEART SPORTS – 12/10/22 – 0700

MINOT, ND – The Des Lacs-Burlington boys basketball team began the season by trouncing the Stanley Blue Jays 73-36 in a game we broadcast on K-Heart. The Lakers welcomed back 6’9″ senior Carson Yale, who played his first game in 650 days. Yale suffered a chipped femur under the knee cap in the 2021 football season that kept him out of basketball last year. He made his presence felt last night with 18 points, including three thunderous dunks. Jake Schaefer added 15 points for DLB and made 8 of 9 freethrows. Rylan Olson tallied 13, including three 3’s. Stanley was led by Josh Hetzel with 18 points. The game was tied at 7, but Des Lacs-Burlington would outscore the Blue Jays 14-4 to take a 21-11 lead after one quarter. The Lakers continued to pour it on in the second quarter by a 18-6 tally and led 39-17 at halftime. DLB would double-up Stanley in the third 20-10, increasing their lead to 59-27. The Lakers also won the fourth quarter, 14-9 as they improve to 1-0 on the season. The Blue Jays fall to 0-1.

We’ll have more basketball on the air tonight as Des Lacs-Burlington plays Velva at the Minot State Dome, following the Beaver women’s and men’s games. Pre-game is set for 7:40 pm on 106.9 K-Heart, khrt.com and through the Live365 app.
