MSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
 
BISMARCK, N.D. (MSU) – The Minot State women’s basketball team got a 16-point performance from the bench, but fell 61-44 to the Mary Marauders on the road Tuesday in NSIC action. Kate Head led the Beavers (5-4 overall, 1-2 NSIC) with 12 points. Minot State kept it close in the first quarter, but entered the second frame down 17-16. The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 36-27 halftime deficit. Minot State’s deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Beavers faced a 48-35 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring six of its eight points in the paint in the third quarter. Mary kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 61-39 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Emily Srejma’s layup, to shrink the deficit to 61-44 with 36 seconds to go in the contest, a score which would hold for the rest of the game. Minot State took advantage of three Mary turnovers in the quarter, scoring three points off of those takeaways. The Beavers will travel to Duluth on Friday.

UND MEN’S BASKETBALL
 
MOSCOW, Idaho (UND) – In a game that featured six lead changes, North Dakota suffered a 76-66 decision to Idaho inside the ICCU Arena on Tuesday night. The Fighting Hawks (5-6) had a one-point edge on the scoreboard at intermission but Idaho (4-5) went on 10-0 run midway through the second half to claim a 57-51 lead. UND trimmed the deficit to one moments later at 57-56 before a 6-0 run from the Vandals increased their lead to 63-56. North Dakota would not get any closer after that point and ultimately fell, 76-66. B.J. Omot paced NoDak, putting in 15 points. He played a team-high 35 minutes and led the Fighting Hawks in both rebounds (7) and blocks (2). Jalun Trent recorded a career-high 13 points, throwing down eight points in the second half alone. He dished out a team leading five assists and pulled in six boards. Elijah Brooks came off the bench and poured in a season-high 13 points, going 6-for-9 from the field. The UND men will host Seattle on Saturday at 3 p.m., following the women’s game against Weber State at 1 p.m.

NDSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
 
CEDAR FALLS, IOWA (NDSU) – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team fell short at Northern Iowa, 79-70, on Tuesday night at McLeod Center. NDSU (6-3) started off fast opening up a 19-15 lead after the first quarter. The Panthers (5-3) then stormed back outscoring the Bison, 30-11, in the second to steal a 45-30 lead at the intermission. Northern Iowa then began the second half building their largest lead of the night, 57-40, by the 3:20 mark of the third quarter. The Panthers led after three quarters of play, 63-48. NDSU surged back in the fourth frame putting together an 11-3 run to cut the edge down to single digits, 73-65, after Elle Evans drained a layup. However, NDSU wasn’t able to trim the deficit any further and went on to drop the contest, 79-70. Emily Behnke paced the Bison producing her second straight double-double with a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds. Heaven Hamling added 14 points and went 6-of-6 from the free throw line, while Abby Schulte netted 11 points. Evans also reached double figures in scoring for the sixth straight game with 12 points and a season-high eight rebounds. As a team, NDSU hauled in a season-high 48 rebounds with eight different players contributing at least two. The Bison shot 34.3 percent (24-70) from the field and 65.4 percent (17-26) from the free throw line. NDSU will be back in action at Green Bay on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

MSU SOCCER-KINDRED HONORED
 
MINOT, N.D. (MSU) – Minot State’s star goalie Maddie Kindred has been named an Academic All-American. Kindred, who set school records for single-season and career shutouts this season and was named to the All-NSIC First Team, was named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSIDA, on Tuesday. Kindred set a new single-season school record with 14 shutouts this season, and a new career record as the senior has 26 shutouts in three seasons in net for the Beavers. Her 14 shutouts this fall were No. 2 nationally, as well. Along with her record-setting shutout performance, the senior from Soldotna, Alaska, also had a phenomenal 0.56 goals against average this season, a 0.897 save percentage, and a shutout streak of more than 1,100 minutes – equivalent to more than 12 games. Also a star in the classroom, the senior Nursing major had to maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA to be eligible for the honor, be at least a junior academically, and be a starter or significant contributor for her team this season.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (UND) – Ten North Dakota football student-athletes were named to the 2022 Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) All-Academic Team. North Dakota led the league with 10 selections to the MVFC All-Academic Teams. North Dakota State was second with six student-athletes named to the list.

NDSU FOOTBALL-HONORS
 
ST. LOUIS (NDSU) – North Dakota State had six student-athletes named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference Scholar-Athlete Team. NDSU linebacker James Kaczor was selected to the first team and defensive tackle Will Mostaert and linebacker Luke Weerts were named second team. Safety Sam Jung, right guard Jake Kubas and linebacker Julian Wlodarczyk earned honorable mention. Nominees must be starters or important reserves participating in at least 50 percent of their team’s games, carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one calendar year completed at their institution. Graduate transfers in their first year are also eligible. No. 3 seed North Dakota State (10-2) is scheduled to host sixth-seeded Southern Conference champion Samford (11-1) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Football Championship at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
