NDSU-FCS PLAYOFFS

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Kobe Johnson ran for 206 yards and two touchdowns, quarterback Cam Miller also ran for two scores and third-seeded North Dakota State pounded Montana 49-26 in the second round of the FCS playoffs. The defending and nine-time champion Bison piled up 453 yards on the ground and turned three turnovers by the Grizzlies into 21 points. North Dakota State is home against sixth-seeded Samford in the quarterfinals next weekend. Corbin Walker returned a Miller interception 58 yards early in the second half to pull the Grizzlies within 21-20. The Bison responded and scored on four of their next five possessions. Johnson had touchdown runs of 75 and 73 yards and TaMerik Williams had a 68-yarder. After that NDSU went 87 yards in nine plays, capped by TK Marshall’s seven-yard TD run.

TIMBERWOLVES-THUNDER

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 33 points in his return to action and the Oklahoma City Thunder took advantage of Rudy Gobert’s early ejection to post a chippy 135-128 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The teams were called for a combined eight technical fouls. Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA’s third-leading scorer with a 31-point average, sat out one game earlier this week with a bruised hip. But he had no trouble getting physical against Minnesota, making 10 of 17 shots and all 12 of his free throws. Josh Giddey had 21 points and 12 assists for the Thunder in his eighth double-double of the season. D’Angelo Russell led the Timberwolves with 27 points and Anthony Edwards added 26 points. Gobert was ejected for tripping Kenrich Williams in the second quarter.

Filip Gustavsson made 29 saves in goal for Minnesota, which rallied with two goals in third period, including Kaprizov’s tying goal with 2:35 remaining. Ryan Strome, Cam Fowler, Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry scored for Anaheim, and John Gibson stopped 45 shots. The Ducks lost their fifth straight game.
