MINOT, ND – The Minot Mintauros are in! The Tauros clinched a spot in the Robertson Cup playoffs with a 7-3 win in Austin last night. It was their fifth win in a row. They will finish the regular season with another game against the Bruins tonight as they try to improve their playoff position. Meanwhile, the Bismarck Bobcats are still alive for a playoff spot as they defeated North Iowa 3-2 last night. The Bobcats need to win tonight and have Aberdeen lose to sneak in.

ALL-STAR VOLLEYBALL SERIES
MINOT, ND – The NDHSCA/Optimists’ All Star Volleyball Rosters and Teams have been finalized. The matches will take place on June 12th at Fargo North High School and June 13th at Bismarck Legacy High School beginning at 7:00 pm both nights. For years, the series set up the players and rosters in an East vs. West format. Players are chosen by North Dakota Class A and Class B coaches of the East and the West. Once the roster is complete, players are placed on either the Red or Blue team through a draft process. Coaches will be Leah Newton of Sheyenne, Jamie Zastoupil of Bismarck Century, Angie Johnson of Northern Cass, and Tim Wallstrum of Kenmare. Wallstrum and Zastoupil will coach the Red team, while Newton and Johnson will coach the Blue squad.

MINOT STATE TRACK
AZUSA, Calif. (MSU) – It was Sidra Sadowsky’s day to lead the way. A week after a near-miss at a new school record, Sadowsky left no doubt as she shattered the women’s 800-meter NCAA Division II-era school record at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific. Sadowsky finished 89th in the women’s open 800 meters at the power-packed meet featuring Olympic athletes and a slew of NCAA Division I programs, besting her top time this season and the school record by more than two seconds, clocking a time of 2 minutes, 16.57 seconds. Sadowsky broke the old record of 2:18.72 run by Erica Clark in 2015, and her time ranks her No. 7 in the NSIC this spring.
While she led the way in California, Jacob Jensen added a top time in the men’s 5,000 meters at the same meet, finishing in 15:19.32, his best time in the 5K this season which ranks him No. 5 currently in the NSIC. Competing just down the road at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State, Minot State’s Leif Nelson finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 230 feet, 4 inches on Friday. While they competed in California, other Minot State track and field teammates competed Friday at the Jim Duncan Invitational hosted by Drake in Des Moines, Iowa, with Devontae Daley and Nathan Trujillo-Aragon leading the way for the Beavers. Daley finished fourth in the men’s 400 meters in 49.73 seconds, a season-best for him that ranks him No. 10 in the NSIC this season, while Trujillo-Aragon ran his fastest-ever time in the 400-meter hurdles of 54.55 seconds, good for third at the Jim Duncan and the top time in the NSIC this spring.
The Beavers wrap up a busy weekend with several runners competing at the Bryan Clay and Beach Invitational meets in California today.

WOLVES-THUNDER PLAY-IN
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead Minnesota into the playoffs. The Timberwolves muscled and hustled their way past the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-95 to finish the play-in tournament. Rudy Gobert had 21 points and 10 rebounds in his return from exile for swinging at teammate Kyle Anderson. The Wolves seized the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference with a near-perfect performance. The Wolves had a 58-30 advantage in points in the paint. They will face No. 1 seed Denver in the first round. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 22 points.

TWINS-YANKEES
NEW YORK (AP) — Carlos Correa homered for the second straight game and hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning off Clay Holmes as the Minnesota Twins rallied to beat the New York Yankees 4-3 on Friday night. Correa homered in the sixth off Nestor Cortes and helped the Twins overcome a 3-2 deficit in the eighth, dealing the Yankees their first consecutive losses this season. After winning its first four series, New York can at best split four games against the Twins. Anthony Volpe led off of the game with his first big league homer and Aaron Judge hit his fifth of the season on the next pitch. Giancarlo Stanton homered for a 3-1 lead in the sixth, but the Yankees lost for just the third time when Judge and Stanton homered together. Michael A. Taylor singled to start the eighth off Holmes (0-1), brought in to pitch the eighth against right-handed batters at the top of the order rather than in the ninth. Byron Buxton walked, and Correa followed by lining a sinker down the right-field line.
