MINOT, ND – Nedrose and Glenburn finished the regular season last night as the Cardinals won 66-45 in a game we broadcast on K-Heart. Nedrose led by as many as 30 points as they finished the regular season at 4-14. 6-foot, 2-inch 8th grader Izaac Standlien led the Cardinals with 21 points in three quarters, including four made 3’s. Josh Kalamaha added 12 for Nedrose. Sophmore Aidyn Derr tallied 21 points for Glenburn as the Panthers end the regular season at 1-18. 8th grader Oakley Trueblood added 11 for the Panthers.

STATE WRESTLING
MINOT, ND – The individual portion of the State Wrestling Tournament finished Friday at the Fargo Dome. Several area wrestlers won state titles or were runner-up.
 
In Class A Boys, Gabe Mortenson of Minot High won a state title in the 132-pound class, while Kadyn Turnbow of Minot High placed second at 220. Bismarck High won the individual team title, Bismarck Century was second, Williston was third, while Minot High placed eighth.
 
In Class B Boys, Brayden Selzler of Velva defeated Connor Harvey of Bishop Ryan for the 195-pound title. Coy Okeson of Bishop Ryan won the championship at 285. Runner-up finnishes included Cohen Bell of Stanley at 106, Pitch Hager of Velva at 113, Carson Hildre of Velva at 132, and Mason Mellmer of Beulah-Hazen at 145. Velva placed fourth in the individual team standings, while Bishop Ryan was fifth. Northern Lights made the top 10 placing eighth.
 
In the Girls Tournament, Emma Buee of Des Lacs-Burlington wins a state title at 170-pounds. Three Minot High wrestlers finnished runner-up including Hallie Nash at 115, Kiera Aguilar at 145, and Danijah Moore at 250. Bismarck High won the individual team title with Minot High placing second.
 
The team dual tournament will be held today at the Fargo Dome.

MINOT STATE BASEBALL
 
WICHITA, Kan. (MSU) – The Beavers came battling back with a determined effort at Newman on Friday afternoon. After seeing an early edge slip away, the Minot State baseball team used a 7-run rally late to take control and win an 18-10 slugfest at Newman. Minot State (4-1 overall) got solo home runs from Brent Riddle and Derek Kay as the Beavers built a 6-0 lead, but the Jets chipped away and eventually grabbed an 8-7 edge in the bottom of the seventh. Minot State answered with one big rally as Riddle’s two-run single in the top of the eighth inning put the Beavers back in front and sparked a 7-run surge that saw Gunnar Kozlowitz hit a 3-run homer, while Shane Kary and Martin Rodriguez each added an RBI to put Minot State on top 14-8. Mark Ossanna added a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to help ice the Beavers’ comeback victory. Ossanna ended up leading the way offensively for Minot State going 4-for-6 with three RBIs, while Kary added a 3-for-5 effort at the plate with two RBIs. Dominick Parkhurst (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Beavers, striking out two and allowing just one run in 2 2/3 innings. The two teams meet again today for a doubleheader hosted by the Jets starting at Noon.

MINOT STATE WOMEN’S SOFTBALL
 
MINOT, N.D. (MSU) – Abbey Kelley provided the game-winner for the second time this season. Kelley’s RBI single to left field plated Sara Van Winkler with the game-winner in the bottom of the 8th inning as Minot State rallied for a 6-5 win over Bemidji State in the opening game of the MSU Bubble Invitational 2 on Friday night. Sophomore pitcher Reegan Floyd dominated in the circle, fanning eight Bemidji State hitters over five innings of work to help propel the Minot State Beavers. In addition to her eight strikeouts, Floyd tossed five innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on five hits and walking two for Minot State (6-4 overall). Freshman Calley Olson (3-1) also made an impact in the circle for the Beavers, throwing three innings, giving up one run on two hits, with four walks and three strikeouts to earn the win in relief. Junior Gabi Dawyduk led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Kelley put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a walk and the game-winner RBI. Sophomore Abby Lohse also helped out, going 2-for-4 for Minot State with an RBI.

UND MEN’S HOCKEY
 
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND) – Riese Gaber struck just 1:26 into overtime to complete a two-goal rally in the third period and give the Fighting Hawks a 4-3 win over No. 6 St. Cloud State on Friday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena. UND (13-13-4, 7-10-2 NCHC) trailed 3-1 early in the final frame, but goals from Jake Schmaltz and a pair from Gaber capped the first win over a ranked opponent for the hosts since Dec. 10, 2022 at Western Michigan and first at home this season. Drew DeRidder was solid between the pipes in his season-best seventh straight start, stopping 22-of-25 shots to earn his eighth victory of the season and second in the extra session. North Dakota and St. Cloud State close out the weekend series tonight at 6:07 p.m. from Ralph Engelstad Arena.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Matt Boldy scored in the shootout and Filip Gustavsson turned back the tying attempt to help the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars. Boldy beat Jake Oettinger with a backhand shot and Gustavsson stopped Wyatt Johnson’s attempt to seal the win. Gustavsson also stopped Dallas’ Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin in the shootout to set up Boldy’s chance to score the go-ahead tally. Gustavsson finished with 29 saves. Mats Zuccarello scored for Minnesota in regulation, while Jamie Benn scored for Dallas. Minnesota went to overtime for the third time in four games. The Wild have not won in regulation in 12 games. Dallas was 0 for 4 on the power play Friday and has gone a combined 0 for 18 with the man advantage over the last four games. Following Friday’s game, the Wild completed a three-team trade with St. Louis and Toronto that netted Minnesota a fourth-round draft pick in 2025. The Wild originally acquired center Ryan O’Reilly from St. Louis in exchange for Josh Pillar and then traded O’Reilly to the Maple Leafs for the draft pick. The Wild host Nashville on Sunday.
