MINOT, ND – The Parshall Lady Braves earned a 38-29 win over North Shore-Plaza last night in a game we broadcast on K-Heart. Emily Fixico tallied 10 points and Kaycee Jo Heavy Gun came off the bench to add 9, including 5 of 6 made freethrows as Parshall improves to 2-6. Charlee Schenfisch scored a game-high 14 points, including four made 3’s for the Wildcats, who drop to 0-7.

NDSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (NDSU) – For the second time this season, Heaven Hamling has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week. Hamling has helped NDSU (9-4, 3-0 Summit) to a 3-0 mark in Summit League play for the first time since the 2014-15 season. She logged her fourth 20-point game of the season with a game-high 28 points in the win over North Dakota. The Grand Rapids, Minn., native drained a career-high 14 free throws on 15 attempts, which tied for the third-most in a single-game in NDSU history. Hamling also passed out a game-best six assists with six rebounds and four steals against the Fighting Hawks. Hamling becomes the first NDSU player to win multiple Summit League Player of the Week honors in the same season since Marena Whittle accomplished the feat in 2015-16. NDSU will be back in action at South Dakota State on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Frost Arena.

FCS CHAMPIONSHIP
FARGO, ND (NDSU) – Defending national champion and No. 3 seed North Dakota State (12-2) meets No. 1 seed South Dakota State (13-1) in the NCAA Division I Football Championship game at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. This is NDSU’s 10th title game in 12 years and SDSU’s second in three seasons. This is the 114th meeting between North Dakota State and South Dakota State dating back to 1903. NDSU leads the all-time series 63-45-5, but SDSU has won three straight including a 23-21 victory in Fargo on Oct. 15. North Dakota State is 7-0 in FCS playoff rematches with regular-season opponents.

WORLD JUNIOR HOCKEY
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) — The United States and Canada face off Wednesday night in another instalment of their world junior hockey rivalry, with a trip to the title game on the line. They advanced to the semifinals after polar-opposite quarterfinals Monday, with Canada beating Slovakia 4-3 on overtime and the U.S. routing Germany 11-1. The Czech Republic will face Sweden in the other semifinal. Connor Bedard scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift Canada past Slovakia. Expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NHL draft, the 17-year-old Regina Pats star has set multiple records in the tournament. The Americans are led by the high-scoring top line of University of Minnesota teammates Logan Cooley and Jimmy Snuggerud and Boston College’s Cutter Gauthier.
