Volunteers will be at local businesses on Saturday, May 17 offering veteran handmade crepe paper Poppies to the public. Poppies were designated as the memorial flower after veterans returned home after World War I as a remembrance of those who gave lives for their country. Wearing a poppy is a way to pay tribute to all who have served their country. All donations received are used to assist veterans. Poppies offered in Minot were handmade by veterans residing in the ND Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND.
