MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A former Minot State University football player accused of attacking two police officers during a traffic stop has been convicted on five charges.  A jury on Friday found Jesse Ili guilty on one misdemeanor charge of assault against an officer, but found him not guilty of a felony aggravated assault charge against another officer.  Ili was also convicted of preventing arrest, fleeing and drug possession.  Jurors deliberated for about two hours.
The incident happened last summer after officers responded to a report of suspected drug use in a parked vehicle. Prosecutors say Ili bashed the head of one officer against a pole several times and punched another officer in the head.  Four other team members were arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession and ingesting a controlled substance.

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - An 18-year-old student was arrested after police received a tip there was a Mandan High School student with a gun.  Police charged the student with possession of a concealed weapon after he was seen walking around the south side of the school Friday afternoon with three other students. School officials had locked down the school after they received the tip. Police say more charges are possible.
Police say it doesn't appear there were any threats made against students or staff Friday.  Authorities also questioned a 16-year-old student about brandishing a firearm, but no further arrests were made.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Minot State says a single case landed it on a list of more than 50 colleges and universities facing a federal investigation over their handling of sexual abuse complaints. They say a student filed a complaint last year alleging a civil rights violation. Minot State officials say they are cooperating with the federal probe.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - An Oklahoma man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison on a child pornography charge in North Dakota. Twenty-eight-year-old Jeremy Eades of Oklahoma City pleaded guilty in January to possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors. Authorities say Eades was living in Minot at the time he was arrested.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A former Bismarck middle school teacher has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old boy. Thirty-five year-old Susan Duursma was charged in September and was scheduled to go on trial next week. A plea agreement calls for a three month prison sentence. But a judge must still sign off on it.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Authorities say police from five North Dakota cities issued 114 citations for texting while driving in April. The state Transportation Department says the statewide crackdown last month was the first of its kind in North Dakota.  The North Dakota Legislature approved the texting while driving ban in 2011. A state violation is a $100 fine.

COOPERSTOWN, N.D. (AP) - Contractors have stopping work on an unfinished courthouse construction project in Cooperstown. The owner of a Fargo plumbing and heating company says he hasn't been paid for work on the Griggs County courthouse addition since last year. Cooperstown residents recalled all five county commissioners after they voted to proceed with the $3.5 million addition that voters had rejected three times.
