The North Dakota State University softball team is making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament....

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota State University softball team is making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  The Bison won the Summit League championship over the weekend and earned an automatic bid to the national tournament.
NDSU (35-16) will take on Auburn (39-17-1) on May 16 in the opening round of the Minneapolis Regional. The other half of the regional bracket has Minnesota (41-9) playing Green Bay (25-12). The double-elimination tournament runs May 16-18.

UNDATED (AP) - San Antonio will try to sweep its way into the NBA Western Conference final tonight.  The Spurs look to make it four in a row over the Trail Blazers in Portland.  San Antonio has played like the NBA regular season champs in the series, winning the first three games by an average of just under 19 points.  The Trail Blazers find themselves in a desperate situation. No team has ever won a seven-game NBA playoff series after losing the first three games.
No one will be facing elimination when the Heat visit Brooklyn tonight.  Miami holds a 2-1 lead in that series.  But the Nets are coming off a win that has vaulted them back into contention.  They'll need another huge shooting effort to even things up tonight, like they had in Game 3.  Brooklyn knocked down 15 of 25 3-point attempts in that victory.

UNDATED (AP) - A spot in the NHL Eastern Conference finals is at stake for the Boston Bruins tonight when they skate into Montreal.  Boston has taken a 3-2 lead in the series with back-to-back wins, including a 1-0 overtime thriller in Montreal in Game 4. Boston has its sights set on the Stanley Cup finals for the third time in four years.  If Montreal wins tonight to even the series, Game 7 will be back in Boston Wednesday night.
Maybe it's because the two teams play so close to each other that the home team has yet to win a game in the Anaheim-Los Angeles Series.  The Ducks get the home ice advantage tonight in Game 5 for whatever that's worth.  Anaheim will start 20-year old John Gibson in the nets after he made his post-season debut with a 2-0 shutout of the Kings in Game 4. Gibson is 4-0 with the Ducks after spending most of the season in the minors.

CLEVELAND (AP) - It's one and done for Mike Brown.  His second stint as Cavaliers coach lasted just one season.  Brown has been fired after the team went 33-49 in his return to Cleveland and finished five games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  Brown signed a five-year contract with the Cavaliers last year.
While the Cavs showed some improvement, Brown was unable to get the team to play consistently. There were also some personality conflicts between All-Star guard Kyrie Irving and backcourt mate Dion Waiters.
