FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Three-time defending national champion North Dakota State is the No. 2 team in the Sports Network preseason Football Championship Subdivision poll.  Eastern Washington edged out the Bison to take the top spot.
NDSU earlier took the top spot in the FCS preseason coaches' poll, with Eastern Washington second.  The rest of the Sports Network poll's top five is Southeast Louisiana, New Hampshire and Montana - the same three-through-five teams in the coaches' poll.
NDSU and Eastern Washington will play in 2016 in Fargo and in 2017 in Cheney, Washington. Eastern Washington won the national title the year before NDSU started its three-year run.
NDSU opens the season Aug. 30 at Iowa State, which plays in the upper Football Bowl Subdivision.  KHRT-AM 1320 will be the Minot area radio home for NDSU Bison football.

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Vikings play their first pre-season game of the year tonight as they host the Oakland Raiders.  The Vikings are playing home games at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus the next two seasons while their new stadium is being built.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Rory McIlroy is living up to pre-tournament expectations.  The heavy favorite heading into the PGA Championship is the clubhouse leader in the second round after a 4-under 67. McIlroy seemed unfazed by the 50 minute rain delay and soggy conditions at Valhalla as he shoots for his third straight win and second straight in a major.  The world's No. 1 ranked player is now 9-under par, currently good for a two shot edge over first round co-leader Ryan Palmer who shot a 70.
It looks like Woods won't make the cut in the final major of the year. He's 3-over for the day through six holes, leaving him 6-over for the tournament. The projected cut is 1-over.
