MINOT, ND – Roster for the North Dakota Shrine Bowl football games were announced on Wednesday. Several area players will participate. The format is East versus West in a 9-Man and 11-Man game. They will be played on June 22nd at Mayville State. 9-Man is at 4 pm with 11-Man to follow at 7pm.
The 9-Man East roster include three players from North Prairie: Havlin Delong, Blake Mattson, and Carter Casavant. The 9-Man West roster includes: Ethan Amundson of Surrey, Nash Wollenzien and Ty Schmidt of T-G-U, Maddox Juntunen of Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn, Cris Peppard of Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, and Lucas Sims and Von Irwin of Central McLean.
Two Bottineau players are on the 11-Man East team in Carson Haerer and Jake Hennings. The 11-Man West roster includes: Logan Rist and Ty Hughes of Des Lacs-Burlington, Keaton Cole of Nedrose, Phoenix Delorme of Turtle Mountain, Simon Buchfinck and Riley Moulton of Beulah, Jamison Rime of Velva-Garrison-Drake-Anamoose, Coy Okeson of Bishop Ryan, Jack Hynek, Ethyn Jessen, and Tyler Gjelstad of Stanley, and from Minot High DJ Jones, Lucas Beeter, Derrick Arivett and Michael George.

MINOT STATE BASEBALL
MINOT, N.D. (MSU) – The Minot State baseball team came out swinging on a cold, blustery day at Corbett Field. The Beavers (12-24 overall, 9-17 NSIC) plated 10 runs in their first two innings, putting the visiting Mary Marauders in an insurmountable hole as Minot State rolled to an 18-4 victory in the opener of an NSIC doubleheader. Mary (15-20, 11-14) rallied late in the nightcap to steal an 8-6 victory as the teams split the day. Minot State returns to the diamond this weekend hosting Minnesota Duluth in a 3-game series at Corbett Field with the teams playing an NSIC doubleheader on Saturday at 1:30 and a single game Sunday at noon.
In Wednesday’s opener, Brett Riddle and Seungjun Song ignited the onslaught as each plated a pair of runs in a 7-run, first-inning rally for the Beavers. After seeing the Marauder get a solo run back in the top of the second, Song hit his first home run as a Beaver, blasting a 3-run shot to left, and Minot State never looked back. The Marauders chipped away with 2 runs in the third and another run in the fourth, but Minot State iced the victory with an 8-run rally in the bottom of the sixth highlighted by Kekoa Munos’ first collegiate home run, a 2-run shot for the final 18-4 margin. Four Minot State pitchers teamed up on the hill with Ayden Sauerbrei (1-0) earning the win with 3 innings of 1-run relief. Sauerbrei struck out four Mary batters in his first collegiate victory.
In the nightcap, a Brian Parry RBI single gave Minot State an early lead, but the Marauders plated four runs in the fourth for a 4-1 advantage. The Beavers battled back and grabbed a 5-4 edge on Mark Ossanna’s 3-run homer in the fifth, and after the Marauders forged a 6-5 lead, Minot State responded again as Noah Madas singled home Brent Riddle, tying the score 6-6 after seven innings. But a 2-run homer by Dylan Edmands in the top of the eighth provided the win for Mary, which held the Beavers scoreless in the bottom of the eighth despite runners at second and third with just one out. Parry was 5-for-9 with 4 RBIs, Miles Iverson was 4-for-5 with an RBI, and Riddle was 4-for-7 with 2 RBIs for Minot State, which also got a huge day from Song who had 2 hits and 7 RBIs in the twinbill.

MINOT STATE SOFTBALL
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (MSU) – The Minot State Beavers were not able to score a run against North Dakota pitcher junior Jackie Albrecht on Wednesday and were shut out 8-0 by the NCAA Division I Fighting Hawks in non-conference action. Junior Reegan Floyd (6-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State (18-13 overall, 13-5 NSIC). In the batter’s box, the Beavers were led by senior Lauryn DeGuzman who went 1-for-3 on the day with a double. Minot State is back in action on Thursday as the Beavers return to NSIC play at Minnesota State Moorhead, taking on the Dragons in a rescheduled doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Minot State managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Beavers last got a runner on third in the fourth, when senior Brooklyn Morrison made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Cedric Mullins hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Baltimore Orioles a 4-2 victory over Minnesota on Wednesday and a three-game sweep of the Twins. It was the first career walk-off homer for Mullins. Pablo López allowed a leadoff homer to Henderson in the first but was outstanding after that. He exited after six innings and 87 pitches, having allowed a run and two hits with seven strikeouts. Baltimore’s Albert Suárez pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his first big league appearance in seven years. The 34-year-old Suárez was called up from Triple-A Norfolk before the game because the Orioles needed somebody to pitch after Tyler Wells went on the injured list the previous day. The Twins scored twice in the seventh to take the lead briefly. Austin Martin’s single scored Manuel Margot from first — he’d been running with the pitch. One out later, Kyle Farmer’s single scored Martin. Santander tied it in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot. The Twins have an off day today before hosting Detroit on Friday night. Joe Ryan (0-1) starts for Minnesota against Jack Flaherty (0-1).
