FARGO, N.D. (NDSU) - North Dakota State dropped from its season-long No. 2 national ranking to fifth in the STATS FCS Top 25 and sixth in the FCS Coaches Poll announced today, following NDSU's first loss of the season.  The Bison lost 33-21 at South Dakota State.

NDSU, still in sole possession of first place in the Missouri Valley Football Conference with an 8-1 overall record and 5-1 in league play, slipped behind Jacksonville State (8-1) of the Ohio Valley Conference and Central Arkansas (8-1) and Sam Houston State (8-1) of the Southland Conference.

South Dakota State, which snapped NDSU's 12-game road winning streak, improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.  SDSU moved up three spots to fifth in the coaches poll ahead of the Bison, and the Jackrabbits climbed four spots in the media poll landing sixth behind NDSU.

North Dakota State is scheduled to host 10th-ranked South Dakota (7-2, 4-2 MVFC) in the 44th annual Harvest Bowl game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND) - After having lost just twice in its first 10 games, the University of North Dakota hockey team has climbed inside the top five of both national polls that were released today.

North Dakota, coming off a win and a tie at Wisconsin over the weekend, was ranked No. 2 by USCHO.com and No. 4 by USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine. It was an improvement of two spots in the former and one spot in the latter. UND defeated the Badgers 3-2 on Friday before skating to a 2-2 overtime draw on Saturday.

St. Cloud State unseated Denver atop both polls after improving to 7-0-0 with a sweep of Minnesota Duluth.

UND will host Miami in NCHC action on Friday and Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The RedHawks remained unranked this week but received votes in the USCHO.com poll.
