TODAY'S THOUGHT

In a shocking contradiction to what we deserve, God offers grace that stretches further than all our sin. It is precisely that great scandal of grace that provokes us to bend our knee and live to glorify the Lord of grace.

UNDATED (AP) - For the third night in a row, the Red Sox attempt to clinch the AL East championship at Yankee Stadium. Boston entered the three-game set needing one victory over rival New York to secure its third consecutive division crown. But the Yankees have put the party on hold with two wins. Eduardo Rodriguez pitches the series finale for the Red Sox against Masahiro Tanaka, who has a 2.09 ERA in 10 starts since the All-Star break. Rodriguez has allowed one run or fewer in five of his past six starts. New York has 245 home runs this season, matching the franchise record set in 2012.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown says he doesn't want to be traded. He had responded earlier to criticism on social media by suggesting the team should trade him if it wants to find out how productive he can be when not playing with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Brown stressed today he wants to remain with the club and that he's simply upset because Pittsburgh is winless through two games.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum returned to practice today after missing a day with a sore knee. Keenum didn't want to miss Wednesday's workout but said he understood that being cautious in September will give him a better chance of staying in the lineup all season. Keenum has led the Broncos to a pair of fourth-quarter comebacks, pushing his record over the last two seasons to 13-3.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette practiced in a limited capacity for the second straight day today. Fournette strained his right hamstring in the season opener at the New York Giants and sat out last week's victory against New England. Fournette says his playing status is "up to the coaches at this point" and adds that "it's still early in the season." Fournette also says he doesn't "want to rush anything. It's a long season."
